First event but not the last

On the Saturday of Easter weekend, April 11th, Purple Leisure will be having it's first tryout of the year. The team is looking to better it's self after last year's good start and bad finish. Granted the team had a great time throughout the year, we would like to pursue a bid to regionals and shake up the bay area mixed scene. This year the team is taking a better mindset into practice. With one year under Captain Geoff's belt, he will be running the practices to get the most out of every player for 3-4 hours. Not the point though, all Purple Leisure is looking forward to the new year and here is our first chance to get back together as a team and welcome in the newbies or "shotties."
The tryout will be April 11th from 11am-2pm at Altamont Creek Elementary School in Livermore, CA. After, we have the "Social". There will be a keg, but the food is only a possibility. We will be running drills for the first two hours and then will scrimmage for the last sixty minutes. There will be cuts if need at this tryout so please bring your A game. Also, cleats should be on at 11, we'll be running right at 11. We are looking for fun and spirited players that want to play really hard and look good doing it also. Come be apart of our family, you won't regret it.
If you are interested in playing with Purple Leisure please email the captain geoff at geoffrexroth@msn.com or purple.leisure@gmail.com.

Purple Leisure Continues...YAY!

So Geoff got cut from SF Rush tryouts and alot of people have shown interest in playing Purple Leisure this year. So Geoff decided, yes Geoff is talking in the third person, that he had a great time last year, so why not do it again? This year it's going to be a little different.

If you are interested in playing with/trying out for Purp., than you can email the captain Geoff "Email Guy" Rexroth at purple.leisure@gmail.com. This is the best way to get ahold of Geoff with news having to do with the team.

The Golden Years:

Last year (2008) was our first year and created by Geoff and the bestest in the world Sara Schied, I don't think I spelt her name right...O-well. The name was decided on while standing in line at an A's game and drinking a delicious beer before we got into the game. The first name of the team was Sofa King, but then Geoff found another team by that name. How unoriginal, so Sara and Geoff, Robert Gormley was there too, but didn't contribute anything, like usual, and threw around some other names.

1. Hairless Cat Squad...."mmmmmmmm it's alright"
2. Disco Dynomite...."Getting better."

and then out of the big beautiful brain of Sara's came the perfect name for this team of degenerate, drunken, ultimate players--

PURPLE LEISURE!

The meaning was even better.

Purple Leisure (Adj.+n.) Any activity being done while partaking in drinking or drugs.

This first year was filled with low numbers, non-motivated players, and a lack of beer. Oh there was some ultimate too, but that's always fun, so it's all good. College started and some of the women on the team decided that they weren't going to come back for sectionals. They were cut. Or you could say that I pissed one of them off which I believe means the other girls are pissed off too. But we still have some girls remaining from that old squad. The better ones...unless those girls want to come back and play which means they are all awesome in my eyes.

The Future:

This year's Ultimate team will be better trained in Ultimate, Drinking and Life.

  • We will be holding real tryouts this year, and everyone is expected at all practices unless previously warned.
  • Also financial things will be delt with in the beginning of the season. Everyone will pay there fees in the beginnning. The uniforms are going to be sick so don't worry your money will be spent wisely. All hotel money will be collected in the beginning. Once you have paid no one will have to worry about anything for the rest of the season other than getting your butt to practice and tournaments.
  • There will be 2 weekly workouts.

1. Trackwork-this will get everyone's athletic abilities to peak by the time we get to Sect.

2.Basic Running and throwing-this will be done to keep the legs fresh and in shape (2-3 miles). Also there will be a good amount of throwing. Can't hurt to throw.

  • Our goals are to play very well at sectionals and turn heads at every tournament we attend. A list of tournaments that we are planning on attending will be listed soon.

I can't wait for this upcoming year. We are going to have alot of fun and play very well. Can't wait to see you all out there.

Remember that if you are interested please email me at purple.leisure@gmail.com.

Keep on huckin'
